TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An annual race will be running its way back this week.
The Twilight River Run is Friday July 28, at Fairbanks Park. Participants can choose either a 1-mile run or walk, or a 5k run or walk. The 1-mile starts at 9:45 p.m. and the 5k starts at 10 p.m.
There will also be a high school team event, where the teams compete as a group to win money for their school running program. The four fastest times from each team will be used for the team placement. The school team with the lowest cumulative time will win $250, and the second place team will win $100 for their school running program.
All participants will receive goodie bags along with a free pizza party after the race.
Race Director Pamela Malone said it’s a great way to connect with the community.
“One of the great things about this event and why so many people attend or volunteer, is really because there is a sense of community. It really is about building relationships and supporting people,” Malone said.
Proceeds will also fund the Wabash Valley Road Runner’s scholarship program. Each year the club awards two scholarships to outstanding student athletes from the Wabash Valley. To register for the race or make a donation you can visit their website.
