CLINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Elementary school students in Parke and Vermillion Counties learned more about happens in a hospital Wednesday.
Union Hospital in Clinton hosted its annual Teddy Bear event.
150 students interacted with hospital staffs.
The students learned how to check their blood pressure and dress wounds, while using teddy bears as patients.
There was even a fire truck and an ambulance at the event.
The emergency workers also spoke with the students as well.
It was a fun and interactive way to learn more about healthcare.
“Just so the kids are familiar with what goes on in a hospital because unfortunately, when the children come to the hospital for the first time, they’re often frightened. This way, they are familiar with what the equipment is,” says Jennifer McMullen, a registered nurse.
The hospital has been hosting this event for more than ten years. More students will take part on Thursday.
