LINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Members of the Linton-Stockton School Corporation showed their appreciation for the community Friday with a big parade.
The school board decided earlier this year to make the last Friday in April “Community Appreciation Day”.
The school corporation originally planned for students to do service learning in the community, but those plans changed due to social distancing.
The school corporation decided to have a parade instead. More than 60 vehicles drove around Linton with signs showing appreciation for the community’s support.
“To see the people stand out in the community and wave at us, stop their cars and wave at us while we were showing appreciation to them, we also felt their love back to our schools,” says Superintendent Kathy Goad.
Goad says next year the school corporation plans to have students do service learning in the community so they can see the importance of giving back.
