KNOX COUNTY, Ind. — Three people wanted for a series of armed robberies in the area were arrested Tuesday, according to the Terre Haute Police Department and the Indiana State Police.
Terre Haute Police Detectives had been investigating a string of armed robberies that started on the morning of Sunday, Nov. 22 in Casey, Ill. Through the investigation, detectives identified Amber Nunley, Tangela Winemiller, and Steven Williams as the suspects in the armed robberies.
Authorities spotted Tangela Winemiller, 38, of Oaktown, at a gas station in Vincennes around 12:35 a.m. Tuesday. A warrant check showed she was wanted on the Vigo County charges. A search of Winemiller’s vehicle uncovered a small plastic baggie containing approximately five grams of methamphetamine.
Winemiller was transported to the Knox County Jail where she is currently being held on $50,000 cash only bond.
THPD detectives along with the Knox County Sheriff’s office executed a search warrant later that morning in Oaktown, Ind.
THPD detectives arrested Steven Williams for five counts of armed robbery and five counts of theft. Detectives also arrested Amber Nunley for five counts of armed robbery, five counts of theft and three counts of pointing a firearm at another person.
Authorities provided the following timeline of the armed robberies in which three suspects have been arrested.

2. Nov. 22 at around 2:21 a.m. (Central time) at the Relax Inn in Marshall, Ill.
3. Nov. 22 at around 5:19 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Express at 46 and Margaret in Terre Haute.
4. Nov. 22 at around 5:22 a.m. at the Home 2 Suites at 46 and Margaret in Terre Haute.
5. Nov. 22 at around 5:37 a.m. at the Super 8 Motel in Terre Haute.
6. Nov. 22 at around 5:45 a.m. at the Hampton Inn in Terre Haute.
7. Nov. 22 at around 5:55 a.m. at the Maui Stop at 7th St. and Springhill Dr. in Terre Haute.
8. Nov. 22 at around 5:10 a.m. (Central time) at Jumpin Jimmy’s in Mt. Carmel, Ill.
9. Nov. 28 at around 10:51 a.m. attempted armed robbery at Country Porch in Sullivan, Ind.
This investigation was a combined effort involving the Mt. Carmel, Ill. Police Department, the Grayville, Ill. Police Department, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, the Marshall, Ill. Police Department, the Casey, Ill. Police Department, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the Terre Haute Police Department.
This is still an active investigation in which more information will be released as the case allows.
