TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) A large-scale mural project is bringing color to Terre Haute’s 12 Points community. The project was started last Sunday by first-year Rose-Hulman students who are members of the Noblitt Scholars program.
It will be completed Saturday during a workday from noon-2 p.m. A different group of 12 students are planning to add the finishing touches, including three large hearts and words, to the mural. 12 Points community restoration organizers Mark and Tiffany Baker hope that the hearts/words identifying the 12 Points community on the mural will become a popular photo-taking location.
The Noblitt Scholars program, supported in 2020 by a $10 million gift from 1973 Rose-Hulman alumnus Niles Noblitt and his wife Nancy, guides and supports highly motivated, self-directed learners as they identify an area of interest to them, develop expertise in that area, and turn their passion and knowledge into action. Each year, through a rigorous and competitive application process, Rose-Hulman selects 55 first-year students representing diverse academic interests and backgrounds to become Noblitt Scholars.
