TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Disciplinary action was upheld Wednesday against a Terre Haute Police Officer seen on door camera footage kicking a dog last November.
The Terre Haute Police Department Merit Commission voted unanimously at its meeting Wednesday to uphold a 10-day suspension of the officer involved as punishment. Police officials also confirmed the name of the officer involved: Sgt. Jesse Chambers.
According to the commission, Chambers has already served the upheld 10-day suspension and he is currently undergoing a six month retraining period in addition to his suspension. According to THPD officials, Chambers must complete monthly checks with THPD Chief Shawn Keen during the retraining.
THPD released a response in December 2021 to a viral video from a “Ring” doorbell camera of an officer kicking a dog on a porch that has been circulating on social media. For more information on the incident, click here.
