BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A man who police say fled through several front yards on a moped while in possession of methamphetamine has been arrested.
According to the Brazil Police, the incident occurred Wednesday night shortly before 10 p.m. when an officer observed a moped committing traffic infractions. When trying to pull the moped over, police say the man, later identified as Curtis Modesitt, fled by driving in the wrong direction on a one-way street, going through several front yards in his attempt to escape.
After crashing the moped, Modesitt reportedly ran from officers. An officer was able to finally stop Modesitt through the use of a taser.
Police said they found a bag hanging from the moped’s handlebars that contained nearly 60 grams of methamphetamine.
Once cleared medically by first responders, Modesitt was placed under arrest and taken to the Clay County Justice Center.
Modesitt faces the following charges;
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Possession of marijuana
- Resisting law enforcement
