INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Lawmakers in Indiana are more than halfway through with the 2023 legislative session.
One House bill still being workshopped in Indianapolis addresses funding for residential housing projects.
The bill would establish the Residential Housing Infrastructure Assistance Program as well as an associated revolving fund.
The loans from the fund would be allocated in a 70/30 split, with 70% of the funding being used for housing infrastructure projects in municipalities with a population of less than 50,000.
The legislation is under review in the Senate Committee on Appropriations.

A bill authored by Senator Jon Ford aims to expand eligibility for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, or TANF, program.
The bill would expand the income eligibility for the program from 16% of the federal poverty rate to 50%.
Representative Tonya Pfaff is now listed as a House sponsor for the bill, which is under review in a House committee.

Next week, several higher education institutes will present their budgets to the Senate Committee on Appropriations.
The budget hearing presentations are scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
Indiana State University will present at 4 p.m., with Vincennes University following at 4:20 p.m. and Ivy Tech at 4:40 p.m.
Four other public universities will present earlier in the afternoon, along with the Commission for Higher Education and a House representative.
Mywabashvalley.com has reported ISU has $12 million in budget cuts to make and is addressing that with some staffing changes, along with other adjustments.
