TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — After a historic 2023 season, the Indiana State University baseball team came back to Terre Haute on Sunday and was greeted by dozens of supporting fans.
“We are extremely proud of our Sycamores for inspiring our University and community. This group of young men represented our University to a high standard and proved that Indiana State University competes with the best teams on a national level. A special thank you to Coach Mitch Hannahs, his stellar coaching staff, and our outstanding student-athletes for laying the groundwork for this program. We are excited about the future,” said ISU’s President Deborah Curtis said.
The Sycamores finished with 45 wins, the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference regular season championship, the first since 2012, as 2023 MVC Conference Champions, winners of the NCAA Terre Haute Regional, and advanced to the NCAA Super Regional for the first time in school history.
ISU Athletics was integral to the program’s success. The department coordinated six days at Bob Warn Field as the host site during the MVC Championship and secured Indiana State an NCAA Regional Bid, the first in school history.
The University is grateful to our hardworking facilities staff, event staff, and ISU Police for providing ISU fans and visiting fans with an exceptional and safe experience.
