SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– Christmas came early for the Sullivan community Sunday morning.
Kup of Joy and Christmas for Kids teamed up to hold a toy drive to benefit children around the community. This event included a car show, food vendors, bounce houses, a firetruck tour, and even Santa Claus himself.
They were gathering toys that will be distributed to families in Dugger as we near the holiday season. Roberta Russell is the coordinator for Christmas for Kids, and she is overwhelmed with the support from the community.
“It’s overwhelming. The community is amazing. If not for the community, the program would not have the growth that it does have.”
She also wanted to give a shoutout to Kup of Joy for partnering with them for this event.
“This event would not have been possible without the resources that they brought to this event. They are the ones that got all of the things that you see out here. I am forever grateful for their contribution to this organization,” added Russell.
This was the first event of this kind, but they plan to make it an annual event moving forward.
