TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A local club will hold their 89th annual auction to support efforts to clothe children in need in the community.
Residents can help fund the Noon Optimist Club’s Clothe-A-Child program by participating in the annual auction on Tuesday, December 5 at the VFW located at 12th and Mulberry streets.
Available for sale during this year’s auction are the following items donated by area businesses;
- 2008 Chevy Trailblazer with 161,000 miles from Terre Haute Chevrolet
- Galanz 5.7 Cu Ft Built-In Beverage Cooler from Ace Washer
- Gold Indiana Pacer basketball signed by Tyrese Haliburton
- Sterling Silver “Bujukan Collection” 32” necklace from Ross Elliott Jewelers
- TV console from Glidden Furniture
- Autographed ISU Football
- Corner TV console from Glidden Furniture
- Autographed ISU basketball
- Large Quilt from the Vigo County Quilt Guild
- Several gift packages from Minton’s Blackbelt Academy
- Golden Tee arcade game
- Assembled 54″ Gorilla Basketball Goal (wall mount), adjustable height, and break- away rim
- 18 inch Hot Pink girl’s bicycle with training wheels
- Lovely ceiling fan
- Furniture, toys, clothing, tools and MUCH more!
Noon Optimist Club members are working with teachers in Vigo County to determine which children, in Grades K-5, are eligible to receive clothing. The children, depending on their needs, will receive a new coat, hoodie, shirt, pants, socks and underwear. All proceeds for the “Clothe-A-Child” Drive go to buying new clothes for approximately 900 needy children.

Those wishing to contribute but are unable to attend the auction can also do so online at the Noon Optimist Club’s website here. The website also includes instructions for mailing donations to the club.
The group will be partnering with the League of Terre Haute’s Clothes Closet to distribute clothing to children.
The Clothe-A-Child auction will get underway at the VFW at the intersection of 12th and Mulberry Streets starting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
