DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A young man from Elnora has died and his brother injured in a fatal crash over the weekend.
According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, the single vehicle crash occurred at approximately 1:42 a.m. on Sunday along C.R. 700 N. just east of CR. 200 E. in an area south of Plainville. Investigating deputies said the driver failed to navigate a sharp S curve in the roadway and went into a ditch.
Sheriff Gary Allison said neither the driver or the passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time. The passenger, 19-year-old Breyden Pershing, was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident. The sheriff said the driver, identified as Breyden’s 21-year-old brother, Shawn Pershing, was taken to Daviess Community Hospital before being taken to an Evansville hospital for treatment of injuries.
Sheriff Allison said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Plainville Volunteer Fire Department, Daviess County Ambulance, and the Daviess County Coroners Office.
