VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A public meeting will be hosted by the Terre Haute Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (THAMPO) to discuss the multi-modal transportation system throughout the county and locals are asked for their input.
According to a release from the THAMPO, the goal of the meeting is to gather input on transportation infrastructure, including transit, roadways, bike/ped facilities, and more from the local community to develop its Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) for 2050.
The plan will help to guide the transportation funding allotments and help THAMPO make improvements to local transportation.
A series of public meetings will be held to support the development of the plan, and all citizens are welcome to attend and participate. THAMPO asks the local community to help identify transportation needs and issues and to share any ideas for possible improvement through their local knowledge and experiences.
The second in-person meeting will be held on Thursday, January 11 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Hub in the Hulman Building located at 900 Wabash Avenue in the second-floor conference room.
THAMPO also provided a survey for the community to record their comments. THAMPO noted that the survey has two parts, should take about 10 minutes to complete, and will be available until February 1, 2024.

The survey will include two parts:
- A map-based survey: It allows users to provide location-specific input to identify transportation issues, needs, and improvement ideas.
- A questionnaire survey: It seeks opinions on which factors deserve the greatest consideration as officials analyze data that will be used to establish priorities for transportation improvements in the region.
To access the survey, visit the Terre Haute 2050 MTP Transportation Issues & Needs webpage, or scan the QR code.
