Terre Haute, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Vigo County residents now have a new option when it comes to recycling.
The City of Terre Haute has partnered with Vigo County Solid Waste Management to open another recycling center; the new center is located at the Terre Haute Street Department property at 1329 Deming Street.
The center is currently accepting paper, plastic, cardboard, aluminum and tin for recycling, with hopes to accept glass products in the near future.
Officials tied to the project said this location will give more residents access to recycling services.
“This fit kind of perfectly, because its in the center of town and then our main focus, of course, is also adding a southern location to the southern part of our county,” Executive Director of Vigo County Solid Waste Management Karrum Nasser said. “Hopefully the public takes advantage of it because the more success we see at recycling locations and how successful they are will dictate how many more locations we can put throughout the county.
The recycling center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Officials ask that residents not bag any recyclable items, saying only loose items should be deposited in the bins.
