VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Florida man has been arrested after Indiana State Police say he was driving nearly double the speed limit on S.R. 63.
According to Indiana State Police Sgt. Matt Ames, an ISP trooper had been patrolling the state road when they observed a vehicle travelling at extremely high rates of speed.
The trooper clocked the vehicle going 114 mph in a 60 mph zone. Ames said it took the trooper approximately 4 miles just to catch up with the vehicle and pull them over near the intersection of S.R. 63 and C.R. 50 N.
The driver, 29-year-old Austin K. Brettin, of Mount Dora, Florida was then arrested for reckless driving and taken to the Vermillion County Jail.
Ames thanked the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department, and the Cayuga Town Marshall for assisting in the arrest.
