SHELBURN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Shelburn man who police say was driving in the opposite lane was found to be under the influence of alcohol.
That’s according to Shelburn Police, who said 58-year-old Hubert B Merkley Jr. was observed driving his vehicle southbound in the northbound lane of Poplar Street in Shelburn Friday evening.
After pulling the man over, police said they observed signs of intoxication. Police said a preliminary chemical blood test showed that the man’s BAC at the time of the stop was .122, which is above the Indiana legal limit of .08.
Merkley was taken into custody for the preliminary charge of level 6 felony operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction.
