TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — “Get them with officers, get them with detectives and let them ask their questions,” Public Information Officer Sergeant Justin Sears said.
Terre Haute Police Department is making efforts to open its doors to students.
Monday evening, over 40 criminology students with Indiana State University visited THPD’s Headquarters for an open house. Students got to tour the facility, see the equipment used, and explore career paths. The goal is to help the students decide what department might interest them as they look for jobs.
Sears said its a great way to build relationships with the students.
“They have great criminology programs. We want to recruit from ISU, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Ivy Tech. But we also want to get them the best information they can. So, just kind of a combination of us working with the criminology department and educating their students as well,” he said.
On Friday, THPD will host another open house for Ivy Tech and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods students.
