FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: Windy conditions combined with a resident burning excess brush on a property caused a fire to get out of control on Tuesday.
According to Pierson Township Fire Chief J.C. Gummere, the fire occurred in the area of U.S. 41 and Oregon Church Road. The chief said the brush fire shifted and spread onto a nearby storage shed that housed tractors.
The structure is considered a total loss. Gummere said the intense smoke was due to the tractors burning.
Multiple agencies responded to the fire, and the chief said it took about one hour to get under control. No injuries were reported.
As of 10 p.m. some crews remained on scene.
Pierson Township, Honey Creek, Thunderbird, and Prairieton fire departments all responded to the scene.

It happened in the area of S. U.S. 41 and Oregon Church Road, multiple agencies including Prairieton Fire Department, Honey Creek Fire Department, and other emergency service crews were on the scene of a fire.
Honey Creek fire said the blaze started as a brush fire, which got into some woods and then a barn.
It took crews several hours to completely contain the fire.
Earlier, we were on the scene of the fire as of 6:00 p.m. and noted lot of smoke and that traffic on southbound U.S. 41 was down to a single lane.
