VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A tree limb disposal site in Vigo County following last week’s storms still opened as planned on Monday despite a fire that happened there overnight.
Vigo County Commissioner Mark Clinkenbeard says someone set a pile of brush on fire at the site. He believes it happened sometime after midnight.
Clinkenbeard said firefighters hosed it down and the site was able to open.
“It opened [Monday] morning, 7 o’clock like usual, but like I say it is frustrating and we’ll have to try to keep an eye on it more. We had lots of people come out [Monday]. It’s been non-stop traffic.”
Vigo County’s tree limb disposal site is located at the South Highway Garage on South Sullivan Place. It is open everyday this week from 7am to 7pm, except for the 4th of July.
It is free for Vigo County residents only. They will not take debris from professional tree trimming businesses.
