BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– The Clay County YMCA is having their Back to School Bash Saturday.
They will be giving away backpacks and school supplies for students in kindergarten all the way up to high school. There will also be stylists there giving back to school haircuts and a clothing closet. The event is sponsored by Duke Energy and is an effort to make sure the kids in the community are prepared to go back to school.
“We just believe that this is a need, you know school supplies, and nothing in the community is getting any less expensive and you know parents work really hard so if we can help set the kids up for success and also set our teachers up for success you know that that trickles obviously if they feel prepared on the first day of school we believe that they’re you know going to show up their best self,” said Kaylee Maffioli, Executive Director of the Clay County YMCA.
The bash is Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the stylists will be back at 3 p.m. for anyone who missed them in the morning.
