VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The city of Vincennes will be celebrating the completion of their newly renovated skate park this weekend.
After years of planning and renovations the park is now ready for skaters to enjoy. After years of wear on the old park, the city decided it was time for a change. The skate park is now made of concrete instead of the metal that used to be there. Skaters will now get to enjoy a new fishbowl, snake trail, and other obstacles for any trick they can think of.
“I’m just excited to see the kids out here trying all the new stuff,” said JR Field, Superintendent of Vincennes Park and Recreation. “The fish bowl is my main thing, that thing’s huge. I watched the owner of Hunger Skates on it he was whipping around it like it was nothing and it actually looked exciting”.
The official grand opening will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. The park will be open from dusk to dawn every day and has plenty of obstacles for every age and experience level.
