French Lick, IN (WTWO/WAWV) — West Baden Springs Hotel in French Lick announced that repairs to the glass panels that make up its historic dome are complete.
As we reported in June of 2023, a hail storm caused damage to the dome. According to the hotel, baseball-sized hail damaged 12,000 square feet of the glass panels, original clay tiles, and asphalt shingles that line the top of the dome.
A protective covering was put over the glass while repairs were made, obstructing some of the sunlight. According to the hotel, those covers have been removed and additional work is currently underway to repair the tiles and shingles.
The hotel’s website states, “When roof work is complete, finishing touches will be made inside the atrium to replace water-damaged carpet and move furniture back into place.”
The hotel was built back in 1902 and its dome is still considered an architectural marvel.
