FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – As the winter season continues, Indiana State Police remind drivers to be prepared.
Indiana State Police Public Information Officer Sgt. Matt Ames said there were multiple slide-offs Friday morning. He said when the weather is bad, the best thing motorists can do is slow down.
Ames said monitoring your speed will allow you to properly stop and be able to change lanes without any issues. As holiday travel gets underway, ISP wants to make sure everyone makes it to their destinations safely.
“When you start seeing the snow fall and see precipitation on wet roadways, you need to make sure that you are reducing your speed so it can be safe for you and all surrounding motorists,” said Ames. “We want to make sure that everyone gets to their grandma and grandpa’s house or mom and dad’s house during the holiday season, so make sure you are making good decisions.”
Ames added that drivers should always buckle up and never drive distracted.
