SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A local charity group is moving to a bigger building.
Thanks to the building donation from the Sullivan Odd Fellows Lodge, the Sullivan County Brown Baggers now have a new home. This afternoon they received help in the moving process from inmates at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility.
Inmate Zane Sanders said that he loves being able to give back to these types of organizations.
“It feels good to be able to see the joy on their faces when they see that we do good work,” said Sanders. “It is always nice to be helping out.”
The new space is made possible thanks to monetary donations and fundraisers. This allows them to have more storage room for food along with a space for kids’ and community activities.
The Brown Bagger’s project director Kay Brewer said that the ones who will benefit most from this are the children of the community.
“In this community there is no place for kids to go and be with their friends, and this is going to give them that,” said Brewer. “I hope that this is going to be a wonderful addition to our community.”
Brewer said that they are hoping to have everything moved in and fully operational by spring of 2025.
Brewer said that they are always looking for volunteers to distribute and make food deliveries. If anyone is interested, you contact the Brown Baggers here.
