SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – In Sullivan, the community gathered for the 13th year of an annual Christmas day tradition.
Hundreds of people received a free meal at the Sullivan 4-H grounds from 12 to 3 p.m. Everyone was welcome, but officials say it gives an opportunity to those who may not be able to afford or cook a meal for themselves to get in on the holiday fun with a hot tray. They offered dine in, carry out, and delivery to make sure everyone’s needs were met.
“Means a lot to everyone that’s here today that comes for the food because a lot of them don’t have families. A lot of them are elderly and they just don’t have, they don’t have anything so they come here for the social part of it. But they come here for the meal and it’s great to be able to provide for them an actual Christmas dinner”, Organizer Kevin Arnett said.
Officials say that every tray came equipped with a full meal. This included items such as ham, turkey corn, noodles and green beans.
