DAVIESS CO., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – According to Indiana State Police, a chase that started in Gibson County Thursday traveled up I-69 and ended 32 miles away in Daviess County.
ISP said in a news release that around 1:30 Thursday afternoon, Sergeant Kevin Brown tried pulling over a truck being driven by 24-Year-old Brice Alkema of Indianapolis for a traffic violation. Instead of stopping, police said Alkema took off and avoided stop sticks near Oakland City, ran over a set of stop sticks in Pike County, but continued traveling into Daviess County. That’s where police said he tried to avoid a third set of stop sticks and the vehicle flipped onto its side.
Alekma was taken to Daviess Community Hospital in Washington and treated for minor injuries. ISP said further investigation revealed Alkema was under the influence of drugs. He was taken to the Gibson County Jail.
