FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— WTWO has another update on our winter weather coverage of the storm.
A portion of I-70 eastbound has been closed due to a wreck with multiple vehicles and remains closed currently.
Julie Henricks went live with Terre Haute Mayor Brandon Sakbun to discuss how the town is dealing with the weather. Sakbun stated that 14 plows had been out since 7 a.m. and would be continuously running to keep roads clear. Sakbun also stated that there is an open Terre Haute warming center for those without heat. The mayor also asked those who can to park off the road to help plows.
Then we moved to Garrett Drake in Vincennes where he was able to confirm the presence of about five inches of snow. After Drake spoke with INDOT he was able to let us know plows have been in and out of the city and especially covering the area of U.S. 41. INDOT said that crews were attempting to play catch up and had started at midnight Saturday.
Lastly, we had another update from meteorologist Dan Reynolds saying that sleet and freezing rains are affecting southern areas and making roads rough advising to stay indoors. Reynolds also added that snow could get to 10 inches in some areas and that visibility would worsen overnight. For more information watch the clip above.
