TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Soup Bowl Benefit by Catholic Charities Terre Haute is set to return for its 15th year.
Each $30 ticket purchased can provide up to 120 meals for the community. Development Manager Jessica Murphy says the uniqueness of the event is a key reason it has stuck around.
“It is a social event,” Murphy said. “It is interactive in that you are getting to select your own handmade bowl. These are all made by local artists, just like the soup is made by local restaurants and local chefs. All of the bowls are unique as well, so you’ll come to the event, you’ll get to hand pick your bowl, and then you’ll get to do as many soup samples as you’d like.”
The event will again take place at Maryland Community Church from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on February 1.
“We have some nice, quiet live music going, you’re going to sit with friends, family, maybe some new people,” Murphy said. “It’s community seating and it’s really just a fun social event, all while raising money for the food insecure here in West Central Indiana.”
Murphy says seats are limited for the event, so people need to purchase a ticket while they still can.
“We cap out at 300, and this event has sold out for the past three or four years ever since we came back to being in-person after COVID,” Murphy said. “Get your tickets now, they’re already more than halfway sold out.”
