SULLIVAN, Ind (WTWO/WAWV) — After the recent snowfall, Sullivan Mayor JD Wilson provided an update on the city’s road conditions.
Wilson says it has been great to see all of the kids taking advantage of the snow with fun activities, especially sledding. However, he wants to make sure that drivers remain safe while the roads get cleared. The update comes after Sullivan County EMA Director Jim Pirtle placed Sullivan County back under a travel warning early on Friday. He says this will allow road crews to work without interruption and get the roads cleared as quickly as possible.
“It was a red travel warning earlier this week,” Wilson said. “This is just a travel warning, so just stay off the roads if you don’t have to be on the roads. That’s what the warning is, don’t do any of that unnecessary travelling. If it can wait until tomorrow, give the guys a little bit more time to clear the streets, that’s what we recommend.”
Wilson says that with the two storms, some roads have ice, packed snow, or both, so be on the lookout for that.
