TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Monday afternoon we spoke with Vigo County Sheriff Derek Fell about what to expect from them in 2025.
He said the biggest change to the department is that they will go from 24 to 29 deputies which is the most in department history. Fell said this was made possible by applying for and receiving numerous federal grants.
He said that he has enjoyed the challenge of being sheriff so far and he is ready for all that 2025 will have in store.
“I am looking forward to the challenges ahead as there will inevitably be challenges ahead, but I am willing to face those head on,” said Fell. “We have a great team here at the sheriff’s office and a great support system. Together, I believe that the sheriff’s office has a bright future.”
Fell also mentioned that the department will be changing uniforms at some point later in the year.
