EAST GLENN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — UPDATE: According to an official from the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO), the wreck occurred in the 7500 block of Wabash Avenue at around 1:05 p.m. involving a single vehicle.
According to the sheriff’s office, when VCSO deputies arrived at the scene the crashed vehicle was located and the occupants had already been removed by the Seelyville Fire Department. The sheriff’s office stated that witnesses said the vehicle was traveling westbound when it crossed the eastbound lane and off of the roadway for unknown reasons. The Sheriff’s Office stated that the vehicle then struck a mailbox before going over a grass mound and ending up hitting a tree head-on.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the driver and passenger were injured and were taken by IU Lifeline to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis where they are stable but in critical condition. The Sheriff’s Office said there were no definitive signs of alcohol or drug use at the scene and that the Vigo County Fatal Accident Reconstruction Team was called to the scene as a precaution and taken over the investigation.
Vigo County Sheriff’s Office is currently working a single-vehicle crash at 7519 Wabash Ave in East Glenn.
WTWO/WAWV reporter on the scene observed one medical helicopter landing at the scene of the crash.
At this time, it is unknown how the crash happened and the conditions of the patient(s) in the vehicle.
