TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— A fire occurred at 4:24 p.m. in the 2200 block of East Oregon Church Road that brought three local agencies to deal with the fire.
According to our videographer on the scene, Pierson Township Fire Department was assisted by Riley and Honey Creek Fire Department in putting out the blaze. Chief JC Gummere with Pierson Township Fire Department stated that the main structure would probably be a total loss though the structure is still standing. Gummere said that after checking out the interior, the building seemed to be a 75% loss though they managed to stop the fire at the breezeway in around 30 minutes.
Gummere also said that there was an elderly woman present at the time of the fire. Gummere said that the woman was a little disoriented and that she was able to evacuate herself but that they assisted her off her porch. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation, though intentional cause was not suspected.
