TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A groundbreaking leader in Biotech was a guest speaker Thursday night at the Hatfield Hall Theater at Rose Hulman.
Nina Tandon, the CEO and Co-founder of EpiBone, delivered a special address to Rose-Hulman students and staff on her career.
From developing an interest in science because her siblings had eye problems, to obtaining her PhD and MBA at Columbia, Tandon gave thoughtful insights on how the students of Rose-Hulman can better break into, and stand out, in their desired field.
Recently, her company has become the world’s first to grow living human bone for skeletal reconsruction.
Under her leadership, the company made history, more than once, in 2023.
“2023 was a big year for us, we made history twice”, Tandon said. “We completed the first human clinical trial, where we replaced jaw bones in six patients using cells we took from their fat. We also were green lit by FDA to do a second clinical trial to do a partial knee replacement.”
Tandon says their motto at EpiBone is taking science fantasy and making it reality.
