ROCKVILLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A man on parole for child molestation is now facing more charges after police searched his phone.
In December a parole officer with the Indiana Department of Corrections contacted the Rockville Police Department to let them know that they’d taken John A. Montgomery III into custody on a parole warrant. Due to this, they were allowed to check his cell phone where they found evidence that violated parole.
A probable cause affidavit stated that they discovered Montgomery III had Google searches for suggestive images of 12-year-old girls and had a text conversation with a 17-year-old individual at a fast-food restaurant where they both worked and the two had exchanged nude photos.
According to court documents, after speaking with the minor, the victim stated that she did know Mongomery III’s age and paroled charges and admitted to sending the photos.
On Tuesday, Montgomery was notified that he was formally charged with 10 level 5 felony counts of possession of child pornography.
