TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — UPDATE: According to a Facebook post by the Terre Haute Police Department, one person has been pronounced dead, and three others are receiving treatment at a local hospital due to the crash. The three-vehicle crash happened right before 1:00 p.m., and the Terre Haute Police Department’s Crash Team is currently on scene investigating. Several law enforcement agencies have responded to a multiple-vehicle accident at the intersection of IN-46 and IN-42. According to Terre Haute Police Department Seargent Justin Sears, a “majority of the intersection is closed” due to the accident.
WTWO/WAWV reporter on the scene observed over 10 law enforcement and emergency vehicles from the Terre Haute Police Department, Terre Haute Fire Department and Indiana State Police responding to the crash.
Our reporter said they saw at least two vehicles with heavy front-end damage, and one vehicle in the ditch off on the side of the road. Also, at this time the entire intersection is closed and both the north and southbound lanes of IN-46 are closed.
Sears has also informed WTWO/WAWV that the THPD crash investigators have responded to the accident.
WTWO/WAWV has reached out to local law enforcement agencies for more information on how the crash occurred and the conditions of those injured in the crash. Once that information becomes available, we will update you online and on air.
