WABASH VALLEY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — February is here, and the Wabash Valley Athletic Association is kicking off their “Fundraising February” Movement.
Throughout the month, the organization will be raising money to support Wabash Valley Athletics with things like media days and upgrading facilities.
They also have team captains out in the community, leading the charge, with officials such as Mayor Brandon Sakbun and local coaches like Doug Grim.
The fundraiser will culminate with the “Play It Forward” event on March 1st.
President of the WVAA, John Collett, said all the money raised will be used to better Wabash Valley Athletics, as they are hoping to build on recent successful projects.
“We supported the Vigo County School Corporation with a turf tank”, Collett said. “It was a GPS line striper that striped all the football fields this past season, so I hope everyone noticed that. We have media events, that you participated in, where we had media day for basketball. We had 35 boys’ teams and 24 girls’ teams around the Wabash Valley.”
The “Play It Forward” event will take place at the Terre Haute Convention Center on March 1st at 6 p.m.
