LINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) -The future of the Linton public swimming pool is in jeopardy unless some big money is raised.
The mayor of Linton and the Linton Pool Board hosted a meeting Tuesday night to talk about the condition of the pool built in 1965.
It needs many improvements including new liners for both the big pool and the kiddie pool.
At the meeting, residents learned the pool liners will be patched and the pool will open this summer. But unless $950,000 is raised for repairs, this might be the last summer the pool can be used.
“To say this is the last year, I’m not going to say that. I’m saying I’m going to do one more year and see where the community rises to this occasion and look at next year as hopeful and see where we go,” said Linton Mayor John Preble.
“It’s a necessity and I do believe that the citizens of Linton and the community want this pool,” said Pool Board President Linda Bedwell.
You can follow the progress of the pool by going to the city’s website.
