TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An ice fisherman was rescued after falling through the ice on Lee Lake in Vigo County, according to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
Indiana DNR says the Vigo County Sherrif’s Department was dispatched to Lee Lake Saturday, after reports of an ice fisherman, Travis Hunt, 53, of Terre Haute, submerged in icy waters.

Honey Creek Battalion Chief Josh Sittler and Indiana Conservation Officer Max Winchell entered the water wearing dry suits and removed Hunt from the water. The divers were able to get Hunt on-shore with the help from another conservation officer, the Honey Creek Fire Department and the Riley Fire Department.
Indiana DNR says Hunt was in the water for about 30 minutes and is now listed in stable condition after being transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Since January, WTWO/WAWV has reported at least 5 people who have fallen through frozen bodies of water and at least 3 of them have passed away after falling through.
