PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A former Roachdale Town Marshal has been arrested after Indiana State Police (ISP) said he allegedly stole items from the evidence room of the Roachdale Police Department, to benefit in self-gain.
The investigation of former Roachdale Town Marshal Tywaun Burks, 41, of the Roachdale Police Department, began in October of 2024 by ISP Trooper Detective Colton Maynor of the Putnamville State Police Post.
“During his investigation, it was discovered that Burks had allegedly deprived the Roachdale Police Department of property and had reportedly stolen items from the evidence room of the police department, to benefit in self-gain,” said ISP.
Then Tuesday night, Burks was arrested by Elisha Mcginnis, of the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department, on an active warrant issued by Putnam County Prosecutor Timothy Bookwalter.
ISP said Burk was taken into custody without incident and was transported to the Hendricks County Jail and charged with official misconduct (level 6 felony) and theft (level 5 felony).
This is still an ongoing investigation and WTWO/WAWV will provide you with updates on-air and online as soon as the information becomes available.
