TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Terre Haute drivers can expect upgrades to the intersection of 13th and Wabash, as crews will be adding extended left turn lanes on 13th, along with updated traffic signals.
Terre Haute Assistant Director of Engineering Bradley Utz said crews will reconstruct the intersection to make room for the new turn lanes, as well as space for a possible future bike lane. He said work is already underway to relocate utilities, and the project’s contractor has a start date of April 1.
Utz said the goal of this project is to relieve road congestion and improve traffic flow.
“Like I said, couple times a day the especially northbound 13th Street would back up almost to Ohio Street waiting on that signal,”
The project is expected to be finished by August 15 and the project is funded by Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (or C-MAQ) money, according to Utz.
