WEST TERRE Haute, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: One person was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital after a single-vehicle crash Friday morning.
According to Indiana State Police, troopers from the Putnamville Post responded to the single-vehicle crash around 6:40 a.m.
The accident happened on S.R. 63 at Durkees Ferry Rd.
According to a media release, the preliminary crash investigation by Master Trooper Brian Thomas, 19-year-old Garrick Busenbark of Terre Haute was driving southbound of State Road 63.
According to witnesses, Busenbark was traveling at a high rate of speed, and for an unknown reason, his vehicle left the roadway. The vehicle rolled onto the driver’s side and slid for approximately 20 feet before eventually coming to a stop.
According to the release, Garrick was transported to a hospital in Indianapolis via Lifeline.
Trooper Thomas was assisted at the crash scene by Vigo County Deputies, the Fayette Volunteer Fire Department, the Indiana State University Police Department, Trans Care, Lifeline IU, and Jake’s Wrecker Service.

It happened near the intersection of State Road 63 and Durkees Ferry Road in West Terre Haute.
According to Indiana State Police Sgt. Matt Ames, the vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway, rolled multiple times, and entered the treeline.
Due to the accident, the southbound lanes of State Road 63 were closed.
