OAKLAND CITY, Ind. (WEHT) — Emergency crews are assessing storm damages after an early morning tornado touched down in Oakland City. Officials are also preparing for more severe weather.
Mayor James Deffendall says the first call they received was around 3 a.m. about six people trapped in a trailer during the tornado.
We’re told most of the city is without power and that lots of trees and power lines are down.
Deffendall also says at least one gas station was lost due to the storm.
Fire officials say extensive damage was done to several homes and storefronts in the city. They say several gas leaks were also reported overnight.
Below are videos of the storm and photos of the damage caused, as well as a downed storm siren.
