PLAINFIELD, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Approximately 1,000 Duke Energy customers in West Terre Haute are eligible to receive a free home energy makeover, courtesy of Duke Energy.
Qualifying customers can receive a free home energy assessment and installation of up to 16 energy-saving improvements at no cost to them.
Free products include energy-efficient lightbulbs, water-saving showerheads and faucet aerators, Air conditioning/heating system filters, water heater wraps/pipe wraps, weather stripping and door sweeps.
The free items come from the company’s Neighborhood Energy Saver Program, an income-qualified program that targets neighborhoods based on state and federal guidelines, as well as U.S. census data, according to a press release.
“This is a great opportunity for residents to save money and improve the energy efficiency of their homes,” said Dave Elkins, president of the West Vigo Community Center. “We are excited that Duke Energy is offering this program to residents, and we hope that qualifying community members will take advantage of it.”
Last year, the program helped nearly 1,500 Duke Energy customers in Indiana, and since the program was launched, it has helped provide free energy makeovers to more than 12,000 Duke Energy Indiana households.
