VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) โ KCARC, in Vincennes, held a ribbon cutting Wednesday to officially open their new Coonrod Production Center.
KCARC is a non-profit disabilities service provider, however they also do manufacturing and production work to give disabled residents a stable job.
The new facility is named after the Coonrod family, one of the founding members of KCARC in 1969.
In this new facility, all manufacturing by KCARC will take place. This includes a cut and sew facility and a wood and metal fabrication facility.
President of KCARC, Nash Dunn, said the goal of the organization has never changed.
โEmployment opportunities for people with special needs was the second service that KCARC ever started providing back in 1972โ, Dunn said. โIt is a core to who we are. We very much believe in the value of employment and what that does for somebodyโs self-worth and self-value. We get to live that mission out here every day and see the effects of being gainfully employed for people who might not otherwise have that opportunity.โ
Dunn said manufacturing in the new facility began in March and they are already filling orders.
