TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The 2026 NCAA Basketball Championship Trophy made an appearance in Terre Haute Friday.
Now, this isn’t the 2025 Championship Trophy, that’s in the hands of Walter Clayton Jr. and the Florida Gators. Rather, this is next year’s trophy, and it’s traveled around the country promoting next year’s March Madness tournament.
The trophy started in San Antonio and will stop its cross-country road trip in Indianapolis, where the 2026 Final Four will be held.
The 2026 Tournament Director Trevor Fox said taking this trophy around the country has been a dream come true for a basketball fan.
“It’s been crazy. I mean yesterday we got to go to Lawrence, Kansas. So, we got to see Allen Field House, which has been a bucket list item for myself as a basketball fan. We got to go to Dallas where they rolled out the red carpet for us. The weather has gotten progressively worse, but everything else has been absolutely amazing. Everyone has been so excited to see the trophy and we got to see some cool parts of the county as well,” said Fox.
The 2026 Final Four will take place on April 4 and 6 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
