TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— UPDATE: According to the Indiana State Police Public Information Officer, the left eastbound lane on I-70 has been opened. The Indiana State Police said to use caution in the area as emergency crews are cleaning up the wreck.
A semi that fully succumbed to a vehicle fire on I-70 has closed down all eastbound lanes for traffic.
According to the Indiana State Police PIO, all eastbound lanes of I-70 are closed down due to the fire. The officer stated that the semi on the interstate caught fire due to mechanical issues near mile marker 3. Traffic is currently backed up. One of our staff on scene was able to confirm that the fire has since been extinguished.
