SHELBURN – A Shelburn man is facing multiple charges after a standoff with police late Sunday night.
According to Shelburn Town Marshal Matthew Price, police were notified at 9 p.m. that someone at a house in the 100 block of Mill St. was discharging a firearm.
“When officers arrived, we found shell casings and could see someone in the house,” Marshal Price said.
Officers knocked on the door, and Danny Pitcher, 43, “refused to answer the door.”
Marshal Price, along with officers from Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office and Sullivan City Police, attempted to reach Pitcher through a PA system, knocking on the door and even calling his phone.
A search warrant was obtained by Marshal Price, and officers were able to enter the residence.
“Pitcher was taken into custody at 11:04 p.m. without injury to him or law enforcement,” said Marshal Price.
Pitcher is now charged with criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, shooting into a building where people might gather and resisting law enforcement
