BICKNELL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— A crash occurred Monday between a pickup truck and a golf cart that resulted in the death of a 57-year-old woman.
According to a post by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Knox County deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Main Street and Third Street around 8:47 a.m. in Bicknell, Indiana.
When deputies arrived, they observed the golf cart in the middle of the intersection with a woman lying on the ground nearby, conscious and alert. That woman was identified as 57-year-old Anissa Everett. Everett was then transported to the hospital via ambulance.
The post continues stating that the pickup truck was driven by a 17-year-old juvenile who stated they were first through the intersection, with Everett entering the intersection after. The collision was said to be at low speeds, and little noticeable damage was done to either vehicle or driver.
The post states that when Everett arrived at the hospital though her condition steadily deteriorated. She became unresponsive and died shortly after. An autopsy was performed on Tuesday and noted the cause of death as internal injuries from the crash, but it was ruled accidental.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public that golf carts are not meant to be driven on the roadways due to the lack of seatbelts or protection in the case of an accident.
