TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The Candles Holocaust Museum will be hosting a meet and greet with actor Nik Pajic on July 26th at 5:00 p.m., and it is free to the public.
Pajic will be discussing how he learned and prepared for his role as Nazi war criminal Klaus Barbie in the award-winning short film “The Ice Cream Man”. This short film is based on a true story. Barbie was known as the “Butcher of Lyons” because he tortured and killed thousands of Jewish people during World War Two.
Executive Director of the Candles Holocaust Museum, Troy Fears, is hoping people with several interests will all be able to come together under one roof and learn more about a very important time in human history.
“We hope to have people who are interested in World War 2, the holocaust, and even acting come in, maybe who’ve never come to Candles before,” Fears said. “They can come and check out the museum before he speaks and then hear from Nik, a theater-trained actor, about how he was able to transform himself and play this role. Just kind of take away his processes and just take away again how candles can relate to everyday people.”
Fears also mentioned how Pajic is talking about him being from the Midwest and turning around into a villainous character in this film.
“We’re having Nik come in to talk about how he got into the role, how did he prepare to be such a villainous creature,” Fears said. “When you meet Nik, you’ll know he’s a great guy. He hails from Cincinnati, a Midwest kid, but how he could go and play this role is really kind of what we’re going to be digging into on Saturday night.”
