BICKNELL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A parade took place on Main Street of Bicknell for Labor Day.
Dozens of people lined the streets to give waves and receive goodies from all the floats that passed by. The city has been celebrating Labor Day with festivities and a parade for the past 55 years.
Bicknell has been hosting festivities for all to enjoy this weekend with events like a car show, pancake breakfast, fireworks, and a 5K race.
Many people who participate in the parade come year after year to spread joy, information, and to be a part of the fun.
“Wreaths Across America, their motto is remember, honor, and teach,” said Don Crouse, who drives for Wreaths Across America and participates in many parades. “Remember the veterans, honor their memory, honor their families, and teach our younger generations that freedom wasn’t free.” Don is a local in Bruceville, Indiana.
“We try to get to a lot of parades,” said Jim Russell, Seedline representative. “We’ve done some in other towns, and we just try and get God’s word out.” Jim is a local of Brazil, Indiana.
